A short story needs to grip the reader right off. You dwell too much on the interior of the lodge and use way too many adjectives. We get the picture. The cabin's warm and he hates to leave it but he needs to. Something's pushing him out into the cold, something momentous, maybe terrifying, possibly dangerous but he needs to get out. Build up the tension early and don't telegraph the ending. The writing's fine but the content needs to be revised to give it some pep.

McCluster would be a very risky option. As you said, he's coming off the ankle injury, and other than Week 3 this season, he's been mediocre at best for fantasy-purposes. Help! I need answer today! Food preparation and keeping warm in Crock pots?

Well, I thought I knew the answer but am wondering if it's advisable to bake things that have a crust on them, in the oven, then keep them warm in the crock pot? Specifically, Mexican things like Tostidas (long thin rolls filled with beef) and Jalapeno poppers, with a crust and filled with cheese. Will they be 'soggy'? If I can't fix ahead and use the crock pots, I'll have to wait until folks are arriving to have them hot or at least warm. That could be a 'pain'. Any suggestions? I think your feelings are completely normal. your pregnancy started off extremely stressful. that, mixed with the hormones can sometimes result in more negative feelings. for now, just try to enjoy your pregnancy. do exactly what you've been doing, paying attention to movement and really trying to embrace the pregnancy. I would ume your hormones will level out eventually. I personally didn't deal with these types of feelings, but i know many people who have. most of them had extremely stressful pregnancies. so your situations makes sense to me. don't be so hard on yourself. once that baby is born, you will look at it, and you WILL love it as much as your first child! good luck!

Baby wakes up every hour help?

i know it takes a while to get down a sleep pattern but he is now 3 days old and his first night home he wakes up every hour. he is bottle fed and we got him to sleep no problem in the hospital. could it be a different nipple that i used at home on his bottle? that is the only thing we did different. we had to start using a pacifier too. he is asleep until it falls out then he's up again. what can we do?

Water leaking from the air automatic vent on boiler?

Hi , i woke up one morning to notice my water and heating would not heat..Checking my boiler i soon notices water dripping down from the top of it, not only that there was no pressure at all an dthe boiler would not light...On closer inspection there was a red screw thing at the top which the water was coming fro it, Looking in the Ravenheat manual on my boiler it stated this was the air automatic vent valve. Anyway way if if i let water in to the system increasing the pressure I am able to get the water to heat but then more water starts leaking from the automatic air vent...I'm guessing i just need to replace this part? or is there something else going?

I know exactly how you feel. For the last 8 cycles I have had people tell me everything from "when you stop stressing it will happen" to "when you stop trying it will happen" and guess what???? It hasn't happened and now it looks like it never will. You are right, for some people it never happens, and yesterday my husband and I found out that WE are the lucky people who are most likely never going to have a child of our own. Between my inability to ovulate on my own and my husband's very low count of normal, non-deformed, fast swimming sperm our chances of conceiving naturally are non-existent. IVF is our only option at this point and the incredibly high price tag that comes with a 50% chance at best combined with the issue of the nearest IVF clinic being 6 hours away, throw my husbands upcoming deployment to a war zone in there, and we are screwed. All the destressing and waiting in the world aren't going to do us any good. It is one of those situations where you think it will never happen to you. Then one day you are that poor pitiful couple that can't have babies of their own and it is the crappiest, most horribly feeling in the world. Right now I want to punch every person in the face that ever said those things to me. That all being said, don't give up. Even right now, at my darkest point, when I feel like part of me has died, I can't completely give up hope. If I have to collect cans on the side of the road or work graveyard shifts at mcdonald's to pay for IVF, we will try it and should it fail well I really hope by then I have come to terms with my fate. I wrote this not to scare you but to let you know that your fears are totally normal and completely valid, don't let anyone tell you that it will always work out because for some people it simply does not. I am fortunate enough to have a child from a previous marriage, it is my poor husband who has to face the fact that he may never bear any biological offspring and I would do anything to change that. How to fix a bent alloy rim at home?

Aluminum has a low melting temp. But it dissipates heat quickly. If you heat it slowly and only heat it enough to soften it you should be ok. Do not quench it. Just heat it lightly and hammer it using a strait edge to track your progress. You have to heat metal quite a bit for it to get brittle, like red hot. Quenching makes it more brittle.

What is a good concealer for someone with somewhat red/severe acne?

I've found that the green concealer is best for red spots...I've used skin-colored concealer but you have to use so much to cover red spots that it looks horrible. So instead I use Neutrogena's skin-clearing concealer in green - you can buy it at Walmart or at drugstores. You only need a LITTLE bit - dab it on with your finger so the tip of the applicator doesn't get contaminated with acne bacteria (otherwise you'll just make your other zits you cover with it worse). The green cancels out the red better than any thick skin-colored concealer does. Make sure it dries first and then put foundation on over it. If you use too much of the concealer, your foundation will look really greenish in tint...so use as little concealer as possible. You do need a highly-pigmented foundation to cover it adequately. I hope this helps!!

for some reason i have been feeling sleepy and tired for some weeks now. i have no idea why. i work out every other day for two hours, eat twice a day, sleep for 6-7 hours a day. now i know i should be eating 6 times a day and getting more sleep and food with my workout routine but this is my 3rd year and it has never gave me sleepiness before. i am not on anything either. ive taken the swine and flu shot in the past month if that might have anything to do the the flaws of the vaccines. it has only been about 3 weeks ive been feeling this way. it sometimes goes away and i feel pumped while working out then sometimes while i am i will get sleepy or sometimes i start sleepy and finish pumped up. and in cl ill be falling asleep and other times im good but mostly sleepy. what do you conclude can be wrong?

One Year Anniversary: What should I do?

Eons ago when I was processing the data for my Masters, I'd get huge printouts that included long columns of Mandelbrot and Fourier Transformations... which I hated because it took me hours to squeeze meaning out of them. When graphical fractals were first made public I was enthralled with them. I went right out and got software that would generate them. Unfortunately, back in those DOS-only days, there was no such thing as "make your choice and click on it". I had to manually type in all the numerical settings...but I persevered and generated the most beautiful images. I know all the mathematical uses for fractals and I appreciate them but there's something about the regular, prescribed relationships of illustrated fractals that I still think is magical....and there's so little magic in our lives lately.

New Comodo firewall question.?

Yesterday I turned off my Windows firewall and downloaded the Comodo Pro firewall. I have a lap top and run Windows XP and didn't know if I needed the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version so I opted for the 32 bit. If I should have gone for the 64 bit version, please someone let me know and I'll swap versions. My main question is this. I will run the new firewall in conjunction with the new free AVG 8. How can I get my husband to be more patient with our kids (very long--sorry)?

To make a long story short, one year ago this month, I quit my job to be a stay at home mom, and my husband got back in the work force after being a stay at home dad for almost four years. Aside from when my older two kids (ages 7 and 5) are in school, I have them 24/7 (I also have a 16 month old whom I care for during the day). I'm the one who cooks, cleans, makes dinner, changes diapers, helps with homework, etc. (Not complaining--just stating the obvious that my husband really has no home responsibilities aside from occasionally taking out the trash, fixing little things that break, etc.) I don't know what the deal is with him, but it's like he can't have a decent conversation with our kids without snapping at them. For example, this morning they were getting ready for school and apparently weren't putting their shoes on fast enough for his liking (they were not running late) and he lost his patience and said, "Let's go let's go. Stop screwing around." (He wasn't yelling at them or screaming or anything--he's just EXTREMELY impatient over every. single. thing. they do. I tell him to get off their backs, and he tells me that they need to listen and obey. My argument is that if they were older and farting around, that's one thing, but they're so little and young, and they're not doing it to be obstinate. They play video games and if their volume gets above a certain level, he yells at them to be quiet. If they talk too much at dinner, he tells them to be quiet and eat. (Very rarely he yells--most of the time he gets a sour look on his face and grits his teeth and talks to them.) You'd think that being out of the house all day, he'd be a little happier to see them. Our kids aren't monsters--they're just normal little boys. (Well, as normal as can be expected--our 5 year old has ADHD and our 7 year old possibly has Aspergers Syndrom). I'm not a violent person by any stretch of the imagination, but when he gets like this, I just want to smack the **** out of him. What can I say/do to make him realize that he's being a complete ****** and to back the hell off? Our kids notice this and I see after he's been grumpy/upset/snappish with them, their little faces crumple. Our 5 year old was in counseling for his ADHD with a psychologist for a while, and the dr. told me very early on to ignore the little things. If our son walks into a room and kicks a toy (not out of meanness--just doing it for whatever reason) to let it go--it's not worth it. Intense stomach pains after drinking sweet alcoholic beverages.?

Just wondering if anyone knows why I get servere stomach pains after I drink anything that's sweet and alcoholic, but only when those two are combined. The pain usually last for about 30mins or a little less, and will gradually subside if I drink water or eat some crackers. I have googled it, but haven't seen any real answers. Has anyone experienced the same and gone to a doctor? I'm weary to go myself so any info appreciated!

i had an audio adapter and inserted it in the earphone plug. when i inserted it, it got stuck then after removing it, the stick(the one you insert inside it) was brocken and its stuck inside. i tried to remove it with an forcept and a pin..i removed the half but the tip is still in there, now how can i remove it? my ppc can recieve radio signals but it cannot play sounds bec it thinks like it has an ear phone inserted in it.

When a person attacks a heteroual person for being straight it is usually viewed as "honorable" because she is "sticking up for her beliefs" (Rosie O'Donnell), or when a minority stereotypes and makes fun of a white person it is viewed as "comic relief" (Dave Chappelle). Why is this type of stereotyping and discrimination acceptable, when a straight, white person cannot "make jokes" about another race or ually oriented person or "stand up for their rights and beliefs" without being considered a bigot, racist or phobic? I understand that most people have a natural tendency to prefer others like themselves. I’m not saying that we should all badmouth each other (I actually believe quite the opposite), but the same rules should apply to all. "Equality" does mean for people to be treated equally, right? "Discrimination" is discrimination and "prejudice" is prejudice, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender or lifestyle.

Why are people obsessed with relationships?

I am 21 and never had a girlfriend and don't want one. I use to be really shy in highschool and wanted one, but now I don't even want one at all.
