Theres this book i forgot what it was called?

its a book about this girl and right in the beginning her mother dies and she stays with her. her mother was the only person in their village who could fix patches on the villages quilt blanket thing and since she died her daughter had to do it so she was sent to this place where other talent kids were one guy could carve wood. the girl went to this person who taut her how to make different colors and one time she showed her a thing full of piss and she said it jus like that she had a friend and they said that their was beasts beyond her village and other stuff. i think its called something like blue ribbon or something with blue because in the story nobody could make the color blue and the blue in the quilt was running thin... this place wasn't present it was like a village a dirty one....any way if somebody could help pleaz and thank you
