How would you defend a machine in court?

In any defense, you start with the statute the defines the crime. As their are no statutes prohibiting conduct by machines, a machine cannot commit a crime. On the other hand, the machine has no rights and can be disembled and scrapped without due process, just as I can put my old vacuum clearner in the landfill.
