A friend of mine needs help desperately plz help!?

The best possible way is for him to talk to his parents about what he wants to do in the future. It is his life and he has every right to choose. I agree that parents want what is best for the child. But, in this case the parents would rather compare him with someone else than give him moral support. He really needs to talk to his parents about it. Coz even if you somehow manage to encourage him, in the near future his parents may try to compare him with someone else again. And this time he may get more depressed.
