Got any good ways to ride the train for free?

I have a girlfriend who lives in another town, so it takes me 35 minutes by train to get to her. But I don't have alot of money, and so paying for the train tickets every is a little to much for me. I pretend to sleep on the way home (at night), but that doesn't always work. Any suggestions to avoid the conductor?
