Have you ever felt like you couldn't connect anymore, because of an ex?

I dated this guy for about 2 years on and off. It was a very unhealthy relationship that couldn't have gone anywhere, because of the age difference and the fact that we where both immature. Now I find myself not even wanting to date anymore. I have taken about 4 months off dating just to have fun with my friends. I might not be 100 percent over my ex but I’m way better then I used to be (because he was my first love). Now I’m just wondering have you ever felt this way like there's no point in dating or trying to get out there again. I’m 16 but I’m not stupid I’m not expecting to find the "one" at this age or even thinking about marriage, I just known that I’m to young to be this cynical toward dating so, any advice or personal experience?
